Trying to get to Iwaya or Onike from Iyana-Ipaja? Quite a good number of Lagosians have never heard of a place called Iwaya before so it sounds new when they do. Iwaya is a suburb in the Onike neighbourhood of Yaba, Lagos. Major routes leading to the Iwaya community include Sabo, Onike, the University of Lagos back gate and Makoko.

There are three ways to break down your transit from Iyana-Ipaja to Onike if you are not using BOLT or UBER. We shall call these ROUTES.
Route 1
- Locate the bridge at Iyana-Ipaja and ensure you are on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
- Ask around for where you can get a vehicle to Yaba (the vehicles are usually parked by the roadside in front of Peace Mass Transit Iyana-Ipaja station)
- Enter a bus going to Yaba and tell the driver you are alighting at the last bus stop.
- On getting to the final bus stop, (ensure it is the last bus stop – Yaba phase II) disembark from the bus. If it is not the last bus stop, you might need to trek to the last bus stop (not far – some constructions might be taking place in between).
- Once you are at Yaba Phase II, ask around for a vehicle going to Iwaya. Explain your destination or the closest landmark to the driver or conductor so they can help locate your destination easier.
Route 2
- Locate the bridge at Iyana-Ipaja and ensure you are on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
- Ask around for where you can get a vehicle to Oshodi
- Board a bus going to Oshodi and alight at the last bus stop.
- Because of traffic regulations, the bus might not take you close to Oshodi Bus Terminal. You may want to finish the trip on foot.
- Once you are at Oshodi, ask around where you can get a bus heading towards Yaba. Buses heading towards Yaba are parked on a divulsion to Ilupeju.
- Board a Bus heading for Yaba and alight at Yaba phase II (The next bus stop after the Tejuosho market in Yaba).
- Once you are at Yaba Phase II, ask around for a vehicle going to Iwaya. Give a clear detail of your destination or closest landmark to the driver or conductor so they can help locate your destination easier.
Route 3
- Locate the bridge at Iyana-Ipaja and ensure you are on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
- Ask around where you can get a vehicle to Ikeja Inside.
- Board a bus going to Ikeja Inside and alight at Ikeja Underbridge or LASUTH.
- Once you are inside Ikeja, ask around where you can get a bus heading towards Yaba. Buses heading towards Yaba are parked around Ikeja under the main bridge by Obafemi Awolowo Way and along Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way.
- Board a Bus heading for Yaba and alight at Yaba phase II (The next bus stop after the Tejuosho market in Yaba).
- Once you are at Yaba Phase II, ask around for a vehicle going to Iwaya. Give a clear detail of your destination or closest landmark to the driver or conductor so they can help locate your destination easier.
