The University of Calabar is a public university located in the city of Calabar in Cross River State, Nigeria. The federal institution of learning is popularly regarded as UNICAL, an acronym for the University of Calabar. It used to be a study campus of the University of Nigeria until October 1975 when it became an autonomous institution designed with a new structure.
The University of Calabar offers full-time and part-time study programmes. Admission into full-time undergraduate programmes is administered by JAMB while the part-time programme is anchored by the Centre for Educational Services (CES). From 2021 however, it is mandatory for students to go through a regularization process on JAMB’s portal before they can be authenticated for admission into part-time programmes. The Centre for Educational Services is a profit-making arm of the University of Calabar that handles Part-time programmes, Pre-degree programmes and other affiliated programmes run by UNICAL.
List of Programmes Available for the University of Calabar’s Part-Time Mode
One mistake students make is predicting that a school offers all its full-time programmes in its part-time study mode. This is not true due to reasons such as accreditations, management and the cost of running the course. It is also a costly assumption to make because finding out that a school does not offer your programme of choice after paying the application fee leaves you at a loss i.e application fees are non-refundable. To avoid situations such as this, it is imperative you know the approved part-time programmes offered by the University of Calabar before purchasing an application voucher.
